Unable to use cryptographic harddisk encoding with aes-xts-plain64

I installed Trisquel on my laptop recently. I used the text-based install and when asked about partitioning selected a guided partitioning for the whole drive using encryption and LVM. This failed and in the console I found out this was due to an error with aes-xts-plain64. I was able to manually set up a encrypted partioning scheme but had to select another encryption method than aes-xts-plain64, since this didn't work.

I understand that I'm not giving much information. I would be willing to try to reproduce the bug if someone can tell me what information should then be collected.
